Punjab mushroom king who grows

Sanjeev Singh at the age of 25 in 1992 was arguably the only farmer from Punjab to growing mushrooms. The young blood of 1992 was inspired by a TV show "Mera pind mera kisan" telecasted on Doordarshan when he was in his college.

One thing which helped sanjeev grow his business was estimating the potential and market size so early and then constantly making steps to bulid a business around it. He even registered himself in Punjab school of agriculture so that he can learn about mushroom farming and it's efficient farming techniques. There he actually got to know that it's not mandatory grow it in soil, infact the better results were recorded when grown in compost and vertical farming was also possible for this type of crop. He followed the conventional method first 8 years, from 1992 to 2000 where he just experimented with various kind of test cases. And after that started.

Started with a room of 1500 sq. Ft. where he put a 6 level rack and even stacked compost bags on them and started musroom farming. Now at the age of 54 and sanjeev earns 1.25 crore every year with a land of 2.5 acres. With time to increase business he cut down the outsourced product and raw materials and started product lines of their own.

He was awarded by the state government  for his progressive farming practices in 2015. And earned the title of "mushroom king of Punjab" by locals. He thinks that these new innovations can tackle the problem of farmers wheather it be land or money.
